Located near the Atlantic Ocean on New River in North Carolina, Jacksonville is a beautiful, patriotic place to live nearby Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. However, due to its proximity to the coast, Jacksonville is also at risk of flooding, especially during hurricane season and inclement weather.
Floods can happen in Jacksonville for several reasons, including heavy and flash floods. Hurricanes can also cause catastrophic floods if they move close to the coast, bringing high winds and storm surges that push water onto land. Because of this, the risk of flooding in the area is higher during the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 – November 30.
However, other flooding causes don’t involve the weather, such as a burst pipe or plumbing issues, broken or defective appliances such as a washing machine or dishwasher, or roof defects.
The primary concern regarding flooding in Jacksonville, NC, is the potential for property damage. Flooding can cause both structural and interior damage, cause leaks in the home, ruin possessions and furniture, and even lead to mold and mildew growth. Additionally, Jacksonville residents must be aware of the dangers of electrocution or hazardous items that may get carried into homes via floodwaters.
Leaks can start small and quickly worsen, leading to hidden moisture in your home. Sewage backup is also a real threat, as it can come up through the pipes if they suddenly become inundated with water. Mold can also grow due to untreated water damage in the home, so it’s vital to get everything properly dry and any mold growth treated immediately.
At ADU, we offer prompt and complete flood cleanup services in Jacksonville, NC. Our team will remove any standing water from your home, inspect and test the building for moisture levels, dry out the walls and floors, and provide complete interior restoration services to get your home back to its original condition quickly.
Some of the specific services we offer that may be of help to you after a flood include:
We take a specific approach to treating homes that have been damaged by floods in the Jacksonville, NC, area. This systematic process helps us identify any and all sources of moisture, remove it entirely, and clean and repair things back to their original state.
Each flood restoration service begins with a full inspection of the home to understand the full extent of the damage and provide an estimate for the services needed to restore it to its previous clean, dry state.
The flood came from somewhere, and finding the source is our next important step. It may be obvious, such as a storm, but it may be harder to pinpoint in other scenarios. We’ll help you determine whether it was a broken pipe, a backup of sewage, or something else entirely.
Using professional-grade water pumps or vacuums, we will extract any remaining water from your home so it can begin the process of drying out.
When all water is removed from the home, we use industrial-strength dehumidifiers to dry it completely. Once complete, the air won’t feel sticky or moist, and the materials of your home will be completely dry.
Just because things are dry doesn’t mean they’re clean. With antimicrobial and sanitizing treatments, we’ll remove all bacteria and mold to prevent future outbreaks.
We’re happy to treat any water-damaged areas that need repairs, which may include replacing flooring, ceilings, drywall, and more. We can also repaint damaged walls.
