The Top 4 Water Sports to Do in Florida

A trip to Florida equates to fun in the sun – and the water. Watersports are one of the best ways to keep cool while having fun, and Florida has many to choose from.  Florida’s repair specialists at All Dry USA have been a top providers of restoration services for years, and during that time, we’ve done them all. Here is a list of some of our favorites; give them a try next time you find yourself in the Sunshine State!

1. Paddle Boarding

Paddle Boarding is a newer exercise craze that is sweeping the nation. It is a great core workout, as well as lots of fun. Participants stand on long floating boards – similar in appearance to surfboards – and propel themselves through the water with a long-handled paddle.

Paddle boarding is great because it is low impact and can be done almost anywhere. You can use paddle boarding purely as a form of exercise, but you can also go on paddle board tours along beaches, through marshes, and even in some city canals. Paddle boarding is big all over Florida; no matter where you go, you can probably find it in some form!

2. Fishing

Florida is a great fishing destination. You have the option for deep sea as well as shallow water fishing; there are also many marshlands and rivers crisscrossing the state that offer prime fishing grounds.

The more serious fishermen might want to sign up for a fishing tour. Wherever you go, just make sure that you aren’t fishing in a protected area! Florida has many great fishing spots, but also many wildlife preserves, so always doublecheck!

3. Kayaking

Like paddle boarding, you can kayak almost anywhere in Florida. You don’t have to have any experience, either! Many wetland wildlife preserves offer kayak tours of their parks, which also usually include up close views of their wildlife. What would be cooler than kayaking with manatees??

The experienced kayakers have plenty of beaches with great ocean waves to choose from as well. Kayaking is a good activity for families as they come in single or two-seater options.

4. Windsurfing

Windsurfing boards look very similar to surfboards, except they have a sail attached. It is mostly limited to the ocean, so surfers can ride the sea breeze, and the sport is found all along the Florida coasts.

Windsurfing may look difficult, but many places offer lessons for beginners. In Florida, you’ll see people of all ages windsurfing – children and retirees alike. Many windsurfing rental shops also offer tours. In Daytona beach, for example, surfers let down their sails and drift over herds of manatees and dolphins!

These are just a few of the most popular watersports Florida has to offer, but there are many, many more. Before you plan your next vacation, check some out! They are an experience you will never forget.
