The capital city of the state, Austin is one of the best places to visit in Texas. Austin offers everything from cuisine and culture to beautiful natural scenery. The city boasts unique parks that offer natural springs, a surplus of bbq, and many interesting museums.
Sixth Street is the part of town not to be missed, as it is the music hub of this capitol. In fact Sixth Street is dubbed the “Live Music Capital of the World.”

San Antonio is another great city with a variety of attractions for all to enjoy. Begin with such historical relics as The Alamo. Also be sure to check out River Walk and Brackenridge Park. The San Antonio Museum of Art is another great stop to peruse the diverse collection it holds. Kids will enjoy the ever popular San Antonio Zoo and its famous Aquarium.
Houston has the distinction of being one of the barbeque capitals of the US. The city offers vacationers a large variety of bbq and other cuisine to treat the palate.
Houston is also a great cultural hub that plays host to a large number of museums that include the Art Car Museum, The Johnson Space Center and much more. The Houston Zoo is known around the world as well as its Buffalo Bayou and Children’s Museum.
The quintessential Texas vacation starts in Dallas/Fort Worth. The stockyards in Dallas are where travelers can see an old fashioned cattle drive and buy authentic cowboy boots. Dallas is also a great place to catch a football game or visit any one of the many parks, museums, and historical sites around the city.
One of the big historical draws of the city is to visit the infamous Dealey Plaza. This is where JFK was assassinated. Bring the kids to the Fort Worth Zoo and the Dallas World Aquarium, as these are both worth some time. Don’t forget to stop in and see the Perot Museum of Nature and Science as well.

Texas is home to some prime shoreline, including South Padre Island. The island is considered one of the best in the state. South Padre has thirty-four miles of beaches along the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Other than spring break, when it is over run by college students, South Padre is a great spot for families. It is a great spot because it is very affordable and offers a wide variety of kid-friendly activities such as Sea Turtle Inc., Laguna Madre Nature Trail, and Isla Blanca Park. The best months to travel here are from September to February.
